A Thoroughly Modern Mix

Modern and eclectic are not words usually associated with colonial-style homes, but our client was eager to push design boundaries in this addition plus first floor gut rehab. In creating a layered, sensory design experience, we selected Kelly Wearstler’s Chanel wallpaper in periwinkle as inspiration for the color palette and a striking backdrop in the living room. Tucked into the corner, the family’s heirloom secretary provides a nod to the past while multiple colorful pieces of art on the walls put the interior design distinctly in the present. The dining room, with blue-hued walls, is separated from the equally chic butler’s pantry with a moveable mirror, creating a seamless and sophisticated entertaining experience.
